When their first date was at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, Sudeep and Vinita knew they were in a fairy-tale romance. Eighteen months after their first meeting, the couple found themselves back at the Magic Kingdom, where Sudeep proposed to Vinita right outside of Cinderella’s Castle, on bended knee, and fireworks lit up the sky: magic was in the air.
The couple held their wedding at Atlanta Marriott Marquis in Georgia. They fell in love with the chandeliers at the Imperial Ballroom and the regal and classy ambiance of the hotel.
Everything at the wedding was traditional, from the buffet featuring vegetable and non-vegetable delicacies, including saagpaneer and chicken makhani (butter chicken), to the red and gold mandap (stage décor), and finally, the traditional wedding attire.
Monograms, lighted bars digitally synced to the disc jockey’s tracks, distinctive head tables for immediate family and close relatives, centerpieces, candles and flowers were some of the details that made the night spectacularly magical.
The wedding festivities were rooted in Punjabi tradition and included many events over a few days. For a fun and lively celebration, their mehndi and sangeet were in pink and purple colours. Mehndi artist decorated the hands and feet of female guests and guests danced late into the night.
On the wedding day, Sudeep rode on a white horse alongside his baraat (wedding procession) to Vinita’s bridal party. After some ‘negotiations’, the bridal party led them to a mandap adorned with gold, ivory and burgundy colours.
For the wedding garbs, searching for perfect wedding lehengas in Atlanta did not produce many results, so Vinita’s mum suggested that she go to Punjab, India. Vinita found a traditional deep red and gold lehenga, hand-woven with elaborate and intricate Swarovski crystals as she also had different lehengas for her engagement, mehndi, wedding ceremony and reception, each was adorned with custom-designed jeweler from a local designer. Sudeep’s wedding outfit was a traditional one, also bought in Punjab. The couple was indeed beautifully dressed for their royal occasion.
