Bed Setting Ceremony

An auspicious date for bed setting ceremony needed to select before the big day. Remember invite a couple who have been leading a good life for example, those who still have father and mother and have children. If you really cannot find one, then your parents will be good enough. The bed should be placed at a suitable position, change new bed sheet. Spread the dried fruits & others on a red tray and put on the bed. There’s few things remember to avoid or do. After the bed setting ceremony, b.groom and bride are not allowed to sleep/sit on the bed before the wedding day. It included pregnant, female who is in menstruation period and family of the deceased should not enter the bedroom. Moreover, during/after the bed setting, may ask a child to jump on the bed and eat the candy, it called as “Press Bed” in Chinese custom, which represent the wishes for born a healthy baby in future.

Items needed to prepare

• 九样京果 9 types Dried Fruits: tea, sesame, jujube(red dates), dried long an, peanut, lotus seed, lily bulbs, dry persimmons, dry lychee )

• 喜糖 Wedding Candies
• 旺碳 Wedding Carbon
  
  
• 红竹尺 Red Ruler
• 金元宝 Gold “Yuan Bao” 缘钱
• Destiny Coin 多子多孙公仔
  
  
• Baby Toy x2 床头结婚公仔/ 鸳鸯
• Wedding Couplets (Bears/ Mandarin Duck)
  
  
• 水果 Fruits (eg. Apple or Orange. ) x2
  
  

Bed settings procedures: Groom's preparation.

1. Move the bed from the original position a little bit will do. The bed position should not be placed opposite the corner of table or wardrobe.

2. Place the Dragon and Phoenix wedding Bed-sheet in place. Don't forget that it must be a new bed-sheet.

3. Place a red tray fill with these items, Baby boy, candies,oranges x2,wedding ruler,pine leaf and a set of dried fruits as mentioned above .

4. Place the wedding bed lamp into the position.

5. Place the destiny coin under the bed corner and center, and the corner of table and wardrobe.

The above are the main step to be done by them. Once these are done, you should thank them for helping by return a red packet to them. The rest of the things to do, you can always find someone else to help you like decorating the room by sticking Double Happiness stickers to the wardrobe or somewhere else. Then by putting your new clothing in to the wardrobe first before your bride's clothing. Once finished decorating, the room should be lock and no one can go inside until the bid day arrives.

Note: The bride should not be around the house during this ceremony.
